October 7, 2011, in front of a sold out crowd of 2,800 Alaska's favorite band performs at the Nammys in Niagara Falls, NY. Minutes later, with the voting all done, it was announced that Marc Brown & The Blues Crew were the Nammy winners for Best Blues Recording. Three days later, they perform for standing room only in Chicago, IL at the most famous blues club in the world, Buddy Guys Legends. The Crew were awestruck when they learned that the man himself, mr Buddy Guy was at the Legends that night and they were honored to meet him. Marc Brown & The Blues Crew are the only band out of Alaska to ever play the House Of Blues in Vegas and BB Kings in Hollywood, both nights were sold out events in August 2005. The Blues Crew have won numerous Fairbanks Battle Of The Bands, along with 3 Alaska State Battle Of The Bands. In September, 2008 they entered the Pacific Northwest and out of 54 bands the top 16 were picked to battle. Marc Brown led his band to the championship and barely lost, by one vote. It was so close that they were still chosen to go to the Nationals in Anaheim, CA. Narrowed down from over a thousand, the top 16 bands in the country came from all corners of the US to compete. Marc Brown & The Blues Crew took 4th and lost by only 6 votes out of a 100. |
Alaska's greatest rock/blues band released their 10th cd Indian Rock'n'Roll (the popular song written by Louis Demoski) January 8, 2011 to a packed house at the Blue Loon in Fairbanks, AK. Since it's release they have sold over 1,000 copies. Over the years, they have opened for ZZ Top, Jethro Tull, J Geils Band, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Eddie Shaw and John Hammond. Led by Marc's soulful singing, incredible guitar playing and world class songwriting, along with Jason Slats tasteful sax playing , Marc Brown & The Blues Crew were nominated as Debut Artist at the Nammys November 1010. This band consists of Marc Brown on guitar and vocals, Jason Slats on saxaphone, David Peck on drums and Noel Camp on the bass. They have been doing 150 + shows a year for the past 16 years and are still packing clubs where ever they go.
Jason Slats once took 4th in a national sax competition out of over a 1,000. He has been the sax man in the Crew since 1999 and his first gig ever was opening for Jethro Tull. David Peck was chosen to replace their previous drummer, because of his excellent resume'. He has fronted several bands, been the drummer in many and not only is he a great drummer, he has a smooth sounding voice. Noel Camp, the youngest of the quartet is possibly the most talented. Very adept at slap bassing and funk, he is also the best blues bassist that the Crew has ever had.
There you have it, the best rockin blues Alaska has to offer combined with the best pop and rock all in one package. You can't go wrong with Marc Brown & The Blues Crew.
